Anthony Cirz is a 33-year fire service veteran, and lifelong public servant committed to restoring integrity and professionalism to Toms River Fire District 1. A third-generation firefighter, Anthony was born in Kearny and moved to Toms River as a teenager, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, a Kearny firefighter.
A proud graduate of Toms River High School North, Anthony joined the Toms River Fire Department (1992) alongside his father, Edward Cirz, and his twin brother, Jeff. He has served 15 years as a Fire Officer and 6 years as Fire Chief of Toms River Fire Company #2, earning the Medal of Valor and a Lifesaving Award for heroic actions in the line of duty. He is the founding chief of the Technical Team offering precision and expertise to the firefighters in Toms River District #1.
Firefighting is a proud family legacy. His son, Nicholas Cirz, is now a Captain in Company #2, making three generations of Cirz men who have selflessly served the Toms River community.
Anthony is married to his beautiful wife, Marisa, and together they are raising five wonderful children. He is running for Fire Commissioner to ensure that the fire district operates with the same values he has lived by for over three decades: integrity, accountability, and a deep respect for the firefighters and families who call this community home. Anthony believes that public service is about putting residents first, not politics. He’s running to protect both the taxpayers and the firefighters who risk their lives for this community.
